Hi, I’m Teresa. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. Many of you have too, right? I have started this blog because I’m at a point in my life that I need, and want, to get healthy. And stay that way! I will share my ups and downs, and can use all the support and encouragement you can give. I promise to give that same support and encouragement to you. Together we CAN do this!
I am married to Marcus and we have 3 wonderful kids: Cameron is almost 7, Allison is 4 1/2, and Kody is 1 1/2. Marcus and I both work full-time, plus we live on his family’s farm and are currently working to run it ourselves. Or in all honestly, Marcus is. I wouldn’t mind helping out more, but am busy making sure our kids stay out of too much mischief.
Before I met Marcus, I worked hard to lose 43 pounds. I exercised and followed the Weight Watchers program. I kept the weight off for a few years and felt great! Then we got married. I gained 7 pounds on our honeymoon to Hawaii. Then I gained another 13 pounds before getting pregnant with Cameron. I gained a LOT while I was pregnant and struggled to lose the weight after her birth. The same thing happened with Allison and Kody. Now I find myself heavier than ever, and wanting to be a healthy and fit mom who can run around with her kids. Kody is still a handful at 20 months, but it’s time to get serious and lose the weight.
Because life is so busy, I don’t want to count Weight Watchers points, calories, carbs, or any of that nonsense. I know it works, but I don’t want to do it. I have started to hear more about clean eating and the Paleo diet (not really a diet, but a new way of eating), and think this is the way for me to go. In September 2012, I committed to giving up sugar, bread, pasta, etc. I lost 13 pounds in just one month! I was feeling better, inside and out. I had more energy. I slept better. My moods improved. And the weight was practically melting off. No counting anything!
I have gotten off track since September, but am now making a serious effort to make eating clean (more natural/organic) a way of life.
This is my journey. Won’t you come along for the ride?
